With Whom Will You Share?

This speaks to me on so many different levels I'm not sure which to follow for today's post. While our physical eyes and ears are special gifts from the Lord our spiritual eyes and ears have even more value. One of my regular prayers is asking God to allow me to see through His eyes and hear through His ears. I come in contact with so many people on a daily basis and might easily miss their greater need. My job is to meet the financial needs they have. My purpose is to help steer them to have their deeper needs met. My vocation can change throughout life, but the purpose for which I was placed here on earth will never change.

God, grant me eyes to see the painful heart before me. Grant me eyes to see the soul that is starving. Give me eyes to see the brokenness I can help mend. Give me ears to hear the cry of the heart. Grant me ears to hear the soul depth groan of a person in need. Give me the gift of ears to hear and eyes to see beyond the physical. Then give me the heart to care, the heart that reaches into the pain and gives a word, a touch that says "you're not alone. I see you."

I see you. You are not alone. You may feel deserted, abandoned, but that feeling, real though it is is not the truth. God's Word says He will never leave you or forsake you (Heb. 13:5). Grab hold of His hand. He will not let go.

Who can you touch with the Master's hand? To whom can you give that gift of companionship? To whom can you give the gift of truly being seen?

We've all been given the gift of ears to hear and eyes to see. What will you do with your gift today?
