In this life with Jesus it doesn't matter if I am white or black or anywhere in-between. It doesn't matter if I live in a high rise penthouse suite condo and work with the movers and shakers of society or if I live in a hut in Africa and am a laborer in the rice fields. It doesn't matter if I live in the arctic cold of Alaska or the dessert heat of Sudan. Christ is all that matters and He lives in each of us who invites Him in. (This was just a re-phrasing of a prior verse).
I double checked the word love in this verse and it is referring to agape which is in a nutshell putting others and their needs ahead of my own. How will I do this today? What might it look like in my own world? Let me start with right here, right now--I'm getting ready to head out into traffic so it might mean letting that other car go ahead of me instead of holding my own and ignoring them trying to get onto the freeway. As I get to work I know I will have dozens of opportunities to consider another's needs before my own. Tonight at home it might mean getting up to get my husband a snack, it might mean going out to water the plants while he takes a bath.
What will it look like for you today? What opportunities will come before you to look to another's interests before your own?
What will this in turn provide for us? Because following God's instructions come with blessings too. We will be able to let the peace that comes from Christ rule in our hearts (vs 15).
I would like to leave you with the following benediction: Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives (vs 16). Be blessed!
