Trouble? Hardship? Persecution? Famine? Danger? God's word says that nothing in all of creation can separate us from the love of Christ. It continues by saying, "No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us" (Rom. 8:37).
What is more than a conqueror? Isn't a conqueror the ultimate? I'm just going to brainstorm here a little bit about what might be more than a conqueror. Someone who after conquering then dwells in that place and rules over it? Someone who demolishes everything that might rise up against him? Someone who after conquering then restores the best of the best? Maybe you can add some more than conqueror ideas in the comments!
One thing that comes to my mind in this vein is when the Israelites in Bible times conquered the land of Canaan. In Numbers 33, they are told to drive out all the inhabitants of the land (God was punishing them for their vileness). They were also to destroy all the carved images and idols. They were to demolish all the sacred places built to worship these false gods. God then told them to "take possession of the land and settle in it, for I have given you the land to possess" (Num. 33:52--53).
How this comes together in my mind is when we have circumstances that are working to separate us from the love of Christ we can--as more than conquerors--do what He instructed the Israelites to do. We can get rid of and be completely done with the garbage of that circumstance. Only by destroying old habits, old hurts, old grudges--whatever tries to separate you from His love--can we then take possession of the new land, the new life, the new future He plans in His love for us to have.
