How Are You Fully Present?

How do I know what I know? This kind of reminds me of the book All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten. The really important things like how we treat other people, like sharing, like working together in harmony we learn usually early in life. The rest is shaped by daily life and what we absorb throughout our journey. I know what I know because from a very young age I was taught them. I was taught the why and the how. As a young child I memorized Bible verses that today have a very profound effect on my life.

You have probably heard it said to not dwell on the past or be consumed with the future, but to live fully present in today--or some variation. You may not have had the same up-bringing I had as a child. You may have had nothing of the Scripture in your past at all. Still, you get to choose what you want tomorrow to look like and you can start today. There is so much encouragement to be found in the Bible that I highly recommend what this verse says to do.

Start today to read God's Word. Start today to impress on your children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, whatever young people you have in your life, the value of what God commands. Let your conversations be full of godly wisdom as you sit around enjoying each other. When you're out doing an activity bring in thoughts of our Creator. Start your day reading the Bible, absorbing its wisdom into your life. End your day thanking the God of the universe for the blessings that day held.

There are so many creative ways to include our amazing God in our conversations and activities. But be intentional. It won't necessarily just happen. What scripture did you read today that you can take into your day to share, to live, to build your character?
