Catch Me Daddy!

There is nothing so joy-filled as a child. The Psalmist, in this instance King David had much angst. He, at times was literally running for his life. Yet in many of his psalms he starts with crying out to God for safety, for protection, for God to hear his cry and ends the psalm with proclamations like this one because He is trusting in God.

The entire stanza reads, "Praise be to the Lord, for he has heard my cry for mercy. The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him." This is as much a declaration of faith as it is a statement of truth. David would often praise God in the middle of his tragedy because he trusted in his God. He had history with God that proved Him to be true, to be faithful.

I find that, like the children of Israel when Joshua led them into battle and he sent the singers ahead of the soldiers, when I'm heading into a struggle I should begin with singing. If, with my song, I praise Him it allows my heart to follow.

Why are children so often able to smile and laugh and jump and play? Because they aren't carrying the weight of the world in their hearts. Why do they jump into midair saying, "Catch me, daddy!" Because they are full of faith that their father will truly catch them, he is able. Today, walk in the "Catch me, Daddy!" mentality.
